This was originally an attempt at a speedy, curvy drawing of a lady. Then I added the brats, so it looks a bit odd! Hope it’s okay! You know the whole scene in Bambi where he gets all shy? Yeah. This.

I just realized something.
We don’t have any idea how long a lifespan mutants like Karkat and the Signless have since they’re always culled the moment one finds out about it. Either way, even if the Signless wasn’t outed or revealed as a mutant, he would have eventually died of old age, which I’m sure the number would never go as high as a greenblood’s or jadeblood’s. And since there’s no real idea of mothers and fathers in Alternia aside from the vague relationship between troll and lusus and the Dolorosa being the only true mother in Alternian history, she would have to had eventually learn herself the suffering and misery of a parent outliving their child… and with the way the caste system and troll biology works, it is completely inevitable.
The Disciple would probably feel the same, seeing her loved one die of old age, the Signless looking wrinkled and weary and the Disciple looking not a day over [enter number representing greenblood equivalent of young adult]. It’s one thing to see your lover die as a martyr. It’s another to see them pass away naturally and the idea of growing old with him, well…
